BCHS Soccer

We had our first game last night in beautiful lake Isabella up in the mountains. I am so proud of my guys who had a hard fought win and shutout Kern Valley to win our first game of the year 1-0. I truly enjoy coaching and pray that God will use me to not only teach the sport I love but most of all teach and mentor these young men and show them God's love. Pray for me as our season has just begun.

If any of you want to come and watch any of our games please feel free. Below is a link to our schedule.

Fall back home!

Wow! I miss being back at home in Tennessee. It is sometimes tough being away from family, but I know God has me where he wants me for now. California is a beautiful state with so much variety but the picture below shows a beauty that you can't find in California. It is of Grandfather Mountain back east.

Worship Leading at CCR

I went on vacation this past summer to Colorado Springs and was asked to lead worship at the Community Church of the Rockies so for anyone who would care here is the video (rough cut) of me leading worship.

10 years and counting!

Our wedding video. This is the first video I ever edited so it is not the greatest but if you sit through this whole video then you we're either in the wedding, part of the family, or really bored and wanted a good laugh! I had to make it in three parts so it could be downloaded to this blog.

Forklift Fun!

I work part-time at Williams Monument Company making headstones and other odds and ends out of granite. Amy also works as a secretary part-time at the same place and is able to take Carson. So one day Carson and I decided to have a little fun. He loves forklifts!

Jugular Jeannie Chen

In college some friends of mine made a movie about an unlikely asian superhero who would rip the throats out of bad guys in order to restore order and save the life of her friends. If you like cheesey movies than this one is for you. If you watch closely I appear in a few scenes with my scruffy beard (part 2 at the 4:14 mark). See if you can find me. Hope you enjoy. The movie has been downloaded into two parts.

Where's my Spatula?

This post will probably only be funny to those youth and adults I had the honor of getting to know for the four and half years I was at FBC Colleyville in Texas.  I was severely made fun of once on a ski trip to Keystone, Colorado where I slightly burnt my finger while cooking pizza and pondered the question out loud "Where's my spatula?"  This plea for a spatula was later made fun of and soon became a song.  Those of you from FBCC should no longer have to worry I think I found my spatula or at least where I can get a new one!  Check out this video and comment back.

Sincerely,

Yours truly 'Mattula'

God on Mute

I just picked up a book at the local book store called "God On Mute."  I can't seem to put it down.  It is the most honest book regarding prayer that I have ever read.  God broke me this morning on my lack of trust.  I was a little bit apprehensive at first to get the book because I sensed that God might use it reveal to me some aspects in my prayer life that I need to change or work on.  I was right but it has been a beautiful gut wrenching this morning as I have been reminded that the unknown is okay and that I am not alone in struggling how to communicate with or even why I need to communicate with our the Creator of this universe and everything in it or in the words of Moi "The God who makes the earth spin and float."

Have you ever been afraid that the closer you get to God the more He might test and shape you and that sometimes that shaping might involve pain because we are afraid of losing the things most dear to us.  To be honest that has been my fear lately.  I am being reaffirmed that God is in control and in the Matt paraphrase of scripture "If I want to love, cherish and give Carson the best and would stop at almost nothing to do it how much more does God want to do that for His children (Me)."  Thank you God for allowing me to be called your child.  Pray for me so that I fall deeper and deeper in love with my Heavenly Father and learn to trust Him more and allow His love to be perfected in me.

With You

I found this video on You Tube it is Chris Brown's song "With You" but a sweet acoustic version.  I dedicate this song to my beautiful wife of over 10 years.  It is wonderful just being with you.  We will see how long it takes for her to check my blog and leave a comment.  Love you Amy.

Carson feeling a little breezy!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Carson.  We were at the Garden of the Gods back in June and Carson loved the wind on his face.

Where's the Love? Sermon

I preached this past Sunday a sermon entitled "Where is the Love?"  Check it out if you would like and leave a comment.  Warning I usually don't preach very long and have made fun of my friends in the past but this sermon was just over an hour. :) lol.  Hopefully it will keep your attention.  Click here for the link "Where is the Love?"

Evangelism through Ezekiel

I was reading this morning in the book of Ezekiel 33:1-20.  The entire chapter is about Ezekiel being called by God to be Israel's watchman.  The watchman is the one who has the knowledge of God and is the one who is responsible for sharing this knowledge with others and than once this knowledge is shared then it becomes the person who received the knowledge's responsibility on what they do.  I relate this story to evangelism and how we are the ones who need to share the love that God has given us and let them know how God desires a relationship with them while satan would love nothing more then to keep them in bondage by their sin.

Read the chapter and tell me what you think.  Leave comments if you would like.

Carson on the Web

Carson has his picture on the home page of a professional photographers website.  So you should check it out.  Here is the link below.  I also attached the picture that is on the home page.  If you got to the website and watch the slide show at the start there is another picture of him.
